Arbeid Adelt! has released a new album and we are dedicating a lot of our energy on letting you know about that. First and foremost because we are big fans of this legendary Belgian (new) wave band and the new LP is a return to their sound of the early days. Quirky, wayward electronic sounds with bursts of guitar and absurd lyrics on top. The second reason is that we are playing before and after their gig / album presentation at Beursschouwburg this Wednesday.
So, expect a special about them in our radio show where we’ll have a chat with them, play lots of music by them or by solo-efforts of the individual band members and give away tickets for the gig. Tune in between 21h and 22h to fm Brussel on Tuesday (or listen again online afterwards). Next to that we have selected 6 Arbeid Adelt! (related) tracks for our weekly 22tracks Originals update which are a personal Onda Sonora introduction to their oeuvre.
Expect a track from that new album called ‘Slik’, one that features very regularly in our sets, a lesser known gem we keep for deeper moments, an early cut previously only released on an FM BXL tape but reissued by Walhalla records on 7”, an absolute pre-new beat classic and an oddity by frontman Marcel Vanthilt (also previously only available on cassette before Lieven from Walhalla pressed it on wax). We had more in stock but because Arbeid Adelt! was signed to a major in the 90s and those fools want to negotiate their own deals with people streaming their music (see the Spotify-debacle). 22tracks rightfully opts to ignore them as a result of that. We will share the track we had lined up with you if we can find it somewhere online but youtube is already a no, haha.
