This week we have Roselien, a young, talented Belgian singer-songwriter, in our studio for a live session and interview (in Dutch). Enjoy.
Next week we’ll have more local talent visiting us. Errorism will present new material and talk about it.

Tonight Bluefunk District lands at Beursschouwburg. Cris Prolific has invited a lot of DJs for a night called “WE LIVE IN BRUSSELS BABY”. Lots of home town legends, some cats that haven’t achieved that status yet like ourselves and some out of town peeps. Something we look forward too. Here’s an “avant gout” produced by Defi J with Smimooz on the cuts.

For quite some time now we’ve been struggling with the fact that our musical recommendations get a bit lost in the stream of Onda Sonora related news (or vice versa). On top of that we still have that unstoppable urge to blog and to share with you the music we pick up on our quest to discover all good music in existence. So we created a Tumblr page just for that. To post short introductions to music we like and think you might enjoy too. Nothing fancy nor extensive. Only stepping stones to more quality sounds. So throw it in your reader and get tons of news about upcoming releases, more in depth info about our 22-tracks selections, an occasional dusted off groove and alike. With the usual attention for homegrown Belgian music, of course.
The Onda Sonora site itself will only have Onda Sonora related info on its blog part. About parties, radio shows, mixes, gigs and so on. There’s a short list with the 5 last entries of this new blog in the right hand column though. Which we’ll make a bit fancier looking in the near future. But that will be for the general update of this site planned in a few weeks. Nothing shocking, only some layout tweaks.

We planned to air a session + interview with Roselien this week but due to a few technical difficulties we had to postpone all that to next week. But it’ll be more than worth the wait. Instead we played a very chill and deep selection. Enjoy. And tune in next week.

Big up to everyone who made OUR PARTY last Saturday so much fun. Alton Miller for the great DJ-set, everyone who helped us preparing or running it all most certainly all the dancers. It was a nice one. We’ve uploaded some pictures on our Flickr-account. Up to the next one. December 3rd that is. With Underground Paris as our special guest.

This kind of slipped passed us but the ever impeccable Minimal Wave records has released a ‘best of’ by Pas De Deux. Most people and certainly those living in Belgium know them by their Eurosong entry “Rendez-Vous” which caused quite a stir when it got sent to that high mass of kitsch. Even though we had sent those other early electronica pioneers Telex a couple of years before that. Our ever insatiable thirst for obscure but beautiful music had made us dive deeper into their oeuvre before and we had already discovered far more interesting gems. Most of them are compiled on this nicely packaged and remastered release. 180g blue vinyl of which there are 999 hand numbered copies available. You need this if you like early 80s alternative / electronic music and have, like us, a soft spot for Belgian music.
And while you’re at it do make sure to dig a little further. Walter Verdin, the main force behind Pas De Deux, has made more remarkable music. Under his own name (‘Er Is Iets’ is even part of the Flemish Kleinkunst canon) and together with theatre heavyweight Josse De Pauw as Specimen & The Rizikoos (‘Storingen’ ) among other things. He left the music scene shortly afterwards to concentrate on video work and art.
