This weekend we play 2 gigs we are very excited about. On Friday there’s the closing party of the Plek 322 project where young people kept alive a school that is about to be demolished and rebuilt whole summer long. In Vilvoorde, on the other side of the road as the now defunct Renault factory. We play in the Mo’Yo’Fro room hosted by 54Kolaktiv together with Walrus & SixSixSixties, Alex Deforce & Jazz Neversleeps, Phonetics, Wickzzz and Wahib. Squeezed between the first two of that list. A lot of DJs we respect a lot. In the other rooms you’ll find among many others Mezzdub, Borealis and Ben Daily. Bus 58 stops right in front of the venue.
On Saturday it’s back to our roots. Together with a lot of friends like Lefto, Soul Rebel, Vega, Proceed and many others we’ll rock the cosiest festival in De Rand (aka the belt around Brussels some people think has no relationship with it at all but we know better). It’s in our former home town and we actually started this event many years ago. Easy to say we’ve got a special bond with Spectakulo as we’ve had some legendary moments with DJs like Aardvark, Tom Trago, Kid Sublime, Benji B and others there in the past. We play quite early (just before midnight).
Entrance is free at both parties so no reason to stay home.

This was the last show we did with Yannick as presenter and the last one filling this time slot. From next week on the entire fm brussel schedule gets an update. We’ll be on air an hour earlier and the shows before and after ours will change too. Before us the Los Niños / Vicuna boys will do a show, after us it’s the Lowup crew that’ll fill an hour on air. If you know Brussels’ nightlife a little you’ll share our excitement about these new colleagues. Walrus and Sixsixsixties who’ll fill the first hour musically are DJs we respect a lot and who, for example, brought the Beautiful Swimmers to Brussels this summer. I’m sure we’ll connect. Something we’ll find out this Friday when we play in the same sequence at the FEEST 322 party in Vilvoorde.
The Lowup guys are musically maybe slightly more different but not miles away either and the times we’ve crossed their paths we’re very enjoyable. All three shows will go live and will be presented by Elye. Loyal listeners will have heard her before as she sat in for Dieter a few times long ago.
We wish Yannick all the best with his plans as DJ /radio host (he’ll be adding some mixes to various shows and the online part of fm brussel). It was mighty good fun and he added some fresh new ideas and dynamics to the show. Thanks for that.
In this week’s show we try to both follow the qualifying match for the Champions League of our favourite football team (which was extremely nerve wrecking) and playing some badass tunes, new to old yet all fresh, and we’ve got the weekly Joey Negro triplet which is about his remixes this week.

This Friday we’re back behind decks as the original deep digging duo. Disco Dalglish is back from a trip through California and to celebrate that we’ll play you heaviest records made in The Golden State. Expect lush, sun-drenched grooves a la MoWest, synthetic bass-heavy Boogie from the 80s, booming G-Funk, leftfield Hiphop beats from Stones Throw or Brainfeeder and everything in between. From 10pm on. Free entrance. Those who come say hi will get a second party for free the day after. Curious? Only one way to find out what we’re talking about.
Up until now we’ve been handling our bookings ourselves. It’s not a huge amount of work and this way we are sure we don’t end up at the wrong parties. On the other hand it isn’t our favourite side of the game as we are way too friendly in negotiations and can’t be bothered to hustle for gigs. We’ve always been prepared to hand this to someone we can trust, who understands our ways and is good at the chasing gigs thing. That day has finally come.
We found a booking agent in Dieter; former host of our radio show, co-organiser of OUR PARTY, esteemed member of the Onda Sonora family and good friend for years now. There are few others who know and understand what we do better than him and as programmer for Bruksellive and the guy who handles the OUR PARTY bookings we’ve seen him take care of that part of the business quite well. So we’re very pleased he’s our agent.
We’re also very pleased about being part of such a nice roster. All friends we respect a lot as DJs or producers. All cats we think should be far more prolific. Hope Dieter can make that happen.
Do check the Future Standards website and book us for your quality parties.
